That's what I did. Got a Lauer lower on Christmas sale a few years ago (outstanding lower!) and built up my own! Waited for various parts on sale or otherwise on special. Got a CMMG lightweight upper to go with it and a STAG lower parts kit.
Assembly with CAA stock and Vortex red dot sight, good, folding BUIS, and was done. Total outlay was about $800, spread over 6 mos or so.

The idea behind the freedom to bear arms in this country is for protection of the people. These crimes happen because the victims have had that protection legislated away from them. Actually, I think the 2nd Amendment (all of the Bill of Rights too), say what the govt CAN'T take away. Not what the govt "gives"! These are inalienable rights, ones the we have merely by being alive. Granted by God, flying spaghetti monster, whatever.
