Every gun is a tradeoff. There are advantages you give up by choosing to carry any one gun.

The important thing is to carry the gun and ammo which you have proven to yourself to be reliable, in an effective caliber, which you can conceal, which you are willing to carry often, and which you can shoot accurately.

Personal taste and choice is going to answer most of those questions for you. Your job is to go out there with a good instructor or knowledgable buddy, who has lots and lots of guns you can shoot, and allow you to experiment and find those answers.
