Depends on location and useage, for sidwalls i never go closer than 6 inches unless maybe a tall shear wall. Osb doesn't seem to have shear capabilities that plywood does. For roofing 4 inch spacing may be code for lift off protection (hurricane zones) for 100 plus mph winds.
What will happen... Nothing more than likely unless you're in a hurrizone maybe. Don't get me wrong... 6 nails for a sheet isn't good, i have found that before along with 4 nails per window. I've kicked sheeting off walls both interior and exterior they have so few nails in them.
I don't use osb for anything exterior myself, especially if going to see any moisture. If you're in the snow belt i wouldn't have used it with deck right there if possibility of snow building up.
