The normal flu infects and kills more people than kungflu. Why the overblown reaction? It's beyond strange.
The situation could be a very effective way to thin the population. Once the target number is injected simply release a catalyst (water/food/air) to activate the genes they've altered. Lights out for anyone who took the shot. Guess we'll see what their end game is. Not saying this is the situation, but a possibility, and even if it doesn't exist now there's nothing to prevent development in the future.
