If you've never been to Washington DC, I'd suggest you start there. Make it early March when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. You have a crapload of museums and buildings your tax dollars have paid for that you can see. Drive out of the city a bit and you can explore all the civil war sights such as Gettysburg, Antietam and Harper's Ferry. Some fantastic dining downtown as well.

Been to Charleston...but I could drive there in 8 hours from ATL.

Yeah...Not a big gambler either...enjoy it, no bankroll to support it. The shows are what would draw us in.
