You want to make the argument that the inaguration should be done with minimal theatre, great. I couldn't agree more, but comparing it to the Super Bowl, an event whose sole purpose is to make money and bitching because the organizations involved do exactly that, is stupid.

I know exactly what you said in your post. My point...which YOU completely missed...is that we've turned everything into a spectacle for the sake of advertising dollars. Doesn't matter whether it's a sporting event or a political event. You'd have to be pretty stupid not to be able to see that.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong! Maybe Fleetwood Mac, U2 and Jennifer Holiday appeared at past Inaugurations for free out of blind patriotism. I'm sure no one's looking to make money there.
