I casually asked him how the phone interview went the other day and he said the guy had a recent criminal record and would not pass the background check so he thanked him for his time.. That's it. I didn't press him any further as it was non of my business to begin with.

Yeah, there are some jobs we just don't want criminals in! Not worth testing to see if the "rehab in prison" thing is working or not!
