When I had a job taking pictures (front & back) of every building in Paterson NJ.....it fast became evident that around 80% of the homes that had "Beware of Dog" signs did not in fact have a dog ! They big giveaway is.....piles of dog crap !
Now that being said I was bit a few times there and in rural towns too.....but the sign is there most times to scare people away.
