I grew up about 25 miles West of Philly. We had an antenna on the chimney, and got 4 VHF channels and 3 UHF channels. 7 channels, woooo-hooooo!
A girl I dated for a while in college grew up in Dushore PA, way out in the boonies. They didn't have any TV reception at all until several families pooled their money and bought a 60 foot tall antenna. I think they got one channel from Scranton with that. They could only get one radio station, and it was a bible station.
