Legitimate threats should be eliminated in self-defense.
Works the same way on an indivuidual basis. If somebody becomes a serious threat you don't have an obligation by law to wait until you've been harmed to act.
You think the method of response should be limited by others whose safety is not at stake? Not me, screw that, get the job done in the most certain method available to you. Don't take chances.
