Not necessarily. Look at what happened with OBL. Hell, we both hated the Soviets. Look at Saddam. We armed him against Iran. And he showed his gratitude by invading our "friend" Kuwait, and shooting down the Pan Am plane over Lockerbie.
Look what just went down in Egypt, or Libya. Those freedom fighters fighting against the respective regimes aren't our friends.
And just like with the Israel example, the militant folks are the ones that end up seizing power. The poor Jews who were just trying to escape and make a new lives for themselves didn't populate the new Israeli government, the ones that put foot to ass for their cause did.
We see the exact same thing in Egypt. Those work-a-day Egyptians who just wanted to be free of oppression aren't the ones who ended up with the control. Instead, the control went to the militants, the ones who put foot to ass for THEIR cause.
This is the way it ALWAYS goes.
