I don't care what kind of 'miracle' material the o-rings are made of, they will eventually break down and start to leak. Especially in hot climates.

I had a large red iron building with "r" panel roofing with no leakage from the fasteners over 40 years. Screwed fasteners probably make all the difference vs nailed into wood.
I'm sure mine had EPDM washers, supposedly good for 50 years.
