I drove both the C7 and C8 Stingray at the NCM Track, and have a few thousand miles on my C8. If you want a seat of the pants experience, find another C7 standard trans. That thing was a blast. If you want something that you don't feel accelerating you toward the speed of sound, get a C8.
Go try and get a drive in one. It's hard to describe the C8 acceleration, as you see it on the gauges but don't feel it in the seat. Put it in track mode and you actually feel the shifts, but it's still very refined.
Having said all that, the C8 has insane handling (tightest Corvette I've ever driven) that actually will surprise you for the first few weeks. Was unsettling at first because you really need to drive it. Once I got used to the sensitivity and settings, I found that this is an excellent cruising car that is silly capable on the track.
Headed to Fellows next week to beat the crap out of one of their cars to find the edge.
