I did not serve. I’ve somewhat regretted that. My sister, dad, grandfather, uncles, cousins and daughter served. Most of them navy. BIL still active duty Marine. My daughter was Air Force.

My daughter’s deployment in Afghanistan meant that our family has been deployed/served in every war that the US has been involved in. In fact, my dad is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Like many here, my dad spent time in Vietnam. He spent most of his time patrolling on the river boats. But that’s all I really know. He doesn’t talk about it much.

One thing about him that I didn’t know until I was older is that he was serving on the USS Liberty when it was attacked by Israel. All he has ever said about that is that it was not an accident.
