Any home that I have ever lived in or owned had a basement and some kind of attic, so I never had to think about paying to store old furniture or extra household wares that you might use someday.
Last year when we downsized from the big city home to our smaller vacation home, I was forced into renting a storage unit. Climate controlled 10' square was $190/ month. I had to pay that shit for nearly a year until I finished the addition.
