My exact thoughts. Ignore it? - Get charged. Act on it? Get sued or arrested.
Too much discipline is bad, not enough discipline is bad and only a jury can decide what the right amount is...after the fact.
This "looks" like the right thing to do, but in these times, if it looks right, you can be sure it will be bastardized and used in a way that was never intended.
