Default Audio malfunction at comedy show

Last night went to see Ali Wong at the Fox theatre in Detroit.

The opening act, Sheng Wang, was on stage and about 10 minutes into his set the sound system went to 11, high pitched static, and also a low bass sound.

I always wear musician earplugs at something like that and it even was painful for me. I cannot imagine the people sitting next to the speakers didn't have hearing damage.

The first time was for 8-10 seconds but the 2nd time it happened it was for around 45 seconds.

I could tell it was painful for those not wearing ear protection. Some of the people sitting at the side of the stage were under 2' from the speakers.

Been to tons of concerts and that never seen it happen during a show.
