Bad news coming: When they drown, they sink. When they get to a certain level of decomposition, they will bloat and float. If you have a working sense of smell, you don't want to let them get to the bloat and float point.
The worse news, the water becomes really murky after a few days of the seeds floating on top. The way to find the dead critters is to feel around on the bottom of the bucket with your hand. Sorry.
