OMG I just replaced the tach cable on my 63 without dropping the column. What a freaking pain in the ass. Actually it is incorrect to say I replaced it. Once I got the distributer side off I got under the dash and saw the tach side had come loose.
I ended up just buttoning everything back up, it it appears to be working fine, but my hand is so sore that I can barely open a beer bottle.
