I don't agree with that. I like to be respectful and cordial to everyone I encounter in real life. But when folks get in my face, and call me names and such, I really don't feel there is any "requirement" on my part to be civil to these folks for the sake of "unity". So far, I have kept my composure, because I view these folks as confused children who do not understand that they are behaving in a very uncivilized manner, so I see no reason to escalate the interaction. I'm sure if they read this, they would be filled with more hate, and paste more labels on me like "arrogant", or more likely "Nazi".
If I feel physically threatened, well, the rules change instantly.
