I would say 1209 sq ft is adequate. It's a complex formula combining feeding times, sleep habits, age, level of activity, muscle tone, length of coat, clawed or declawed, footprint of the home, number of rooms, number of bathrooms, climate, window count, window height from floor, wet or dry food preference, litter box style, and a few other critical items. Each is assigned a number, the total is squared and divided by the number of cats x average age + age and gender of owner (if gender has been decided at the time of the calculation).
