This idea has been around for a few months now. What I don't get is what do these people think the landlords are doing with the rents they collect? I can tell you what I do, first, I maintain the building and provide services to the tenants like landscaping, snow removal etc. With what is left over, I pay my own bills, and buy groceries. Cancelling rent will mean my family will go hungry, and if my contractors are primarily servicing rental properties, they will go hungry too.
This is typical liberal bullshit. As long as it "sounds good" and sounds like we are going to take a chunk out of some rich person's hide, then we should pursue it. Unfortunately in this case, they will only kill the middle class, again.
