Heat exhaustion and heat stroke induced by being confined in that suit can be just as dangerous as the chemicals the suit is designed to protect you from. In the summers we set a time limit on how long anyone can remain in it. We have had a few heat exhaustion cases. Some people don't acclimate well to it.

we had a shaft seal blow on a compressor a while back. only lost a couple hundred pounds. the local hazmat guy decided to make it a training exercise. he had 150 dudes walking around all geared up and on breathing air for about six hours. fuggin news choppers overhead, news vans all over. we were in plain clothes. the room never got over about 40 parts per million, lol. you can breath safety up to 100 for a short period. my guys ran in and isolated the plant before they got hazmat suits on. it was comical watching those clowns walk around in the suits for no reason.

We don't have people in those suits without reason. It's too easy to create a heat stress situation.
