1. Real mafia members in ‘The Godfather’
Remember the wedding scene of Don Corleone’s daughter? The people who were in the background were actual gangsters with their relatives. This was how they showed their support for the movie – by taking part in the film. Other mafia members protested the film, and there were mafia members on the set to make sure the film wasn't insulting. They also wouldn't allow the word "mafia" to be used in the movie. Incidentally, the severed horse head was real. It came from a dog food manufacturer.
2. ‘Police Academy’ and the tackleberry
The word ‘tackleberry’ is police slang for employees of the force who like gunfights and use their sidearms when given the chance. What most people don’t know is that it was ‘Police Academy’ that inspired the use of the word.
3. Optical illusion in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’
Have you ever seen the poster for the movie? Look closely at the butterfly with the skull. Most people don’t see that it’s actually an image of three naked women.
4. ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ had real patients
The movie actually casted real patients living in mental hospitals.
5. The briefcase in ‘Pulp Fiction’
One of the biggest mysteries of the film is what was inside of the mysterious briefcase. Some fans believe it was a stack of gold while others even suggested it was the soul of Marsellus Wallace himself! Well, Tarantino will probably never reveal the secret, but here’s what the briefcase prop actually looked like. There was nothing in it except a light bulb.
