Mention this when negotiating the total loss settlement. Also, start looking for a replacement vehicle now. Assuming the tow truck insurance company accepts liability, they will owe (and pay) for a rental, but only until they make you an offer on the T/L. They might give you a few days beyond that, but not many.

The good part about selling to an insurance company is you should get the full retail value, plus tt&l.....iow, more than you would have gotten selling it private party, assuming it wasn't a wreck.

Also, to reiterate what others have mentioned, glad your wife wasn't hurt.
