Two most common causes:

1. The wires/connector in the accordion tube between the door and car. The accordion can be pulled back to expose and inspect the connector for corrosion/loose connection, and/or wires that may have worn through the insulation.

2. The pass. door control module is bad. This is located in the door and contains the relays for the lock/window functions. Easily accessed with door panel removed. Though left and right door modules are different, I seem to recall they can be swapped for testing purposes. Replacement modules can be found for about $100.
