Unfortunately cutting our defense budget in half would only cut the 2011 budget deficit by 20%, since the real problems are the bankrupt social welfare schemes like social security and medicare, and the trillion dollar shortfall between their expense and the payroll tax revenue collected to fund them, payroll tax revenue which is quickly approaching overtaking income tax revenue.
