Yes! One for racing and one to drive around. Early Christmas present? I see a big red bow.

Yes, early Christmas present. I "was" going to store it at a friend's house until Christmas morning, but it seems silly to pay for something that's not used, AND, she'll now drive herself to school every single day. She currently only likes to take her Miata on Thursdays and Fridays, and will then borrow my Vette, or have my wife take her in the other 3.

This actually makes life a lot easier for my wife and I. Daughter will be much more independent, have all of the modern safety features like side and side-curtain airbags, traction control, vehicle stability, navigation....and be able to keep her little red Miata baby safe in the garage. :yesnod:

I was likely the only 16 year old I knew with two cars. I bought a 69 Camaro couple months after I turned 16 (August '77) and then a 67 Charger a few months later. Sold the Camaro, bought a 67 Chevelle and then sold the Charger. Traded the Malibu in during my senior year for a fairly new '76 RS Camaro. I had four cars in the last two years of high school. Over 160 since!:BADRACR1:
Congrats to the daughter.

That's my wife, brother-in-law, and my dog. He owns that house and our invisible fence surrounds both yards for the dogs.

That's awesome!

I need to come check that out

Nice ride.

I didn't have two cars when I was 16, but I did when I was 18. Got tired of my '57 Corvette being a daily driver.

ApexOversteer 11-29-2014 5:45pm

Nice ride! I've enjoyed every Subaru I've had, and I've had several!

Hope you have time! Come take it for a spin, it'll impress you a WHOLE bunch, I promise. But....only in the handling dept. HP, at 200, is barely adequate. Car weighs 2700#. 300 HP would be perfect. :yesnod: Having said that, as the car sits, it's PERFECT for a 16 year old kid, regardless of the fact that she has both Vettes at her disposal.

NO BACK SEAT ROOM. :hurray: It's truly a 2+2, so like the Vettes, she'll likely only ever have 1 passenger. Considerably less distraction for a new driver. :yesnod:

Very nice looking Subaru Craig! And congratulations to G-wiz, enjoy that new ride. :)

Will post the video tomorrow. She had NO clue what we were doing, even though she and I have discussed her having a BRZ. We left the house at 6:45 am this morning and left her a note that we were Christmas shopping, which was technically not a lie. :D

She was definitely brought to tears. :yesnod: When questioned about the car-related events in her life, I think she still rates hearing her Miata fire for the first time, just "slightly" above getting a brand new car. She definitely has her head screwed on right. :seasix:

Man...that car is/was on my short, non-corvette list but I hadn't driven one yet...hate to hear about the acceleration because that was key for me.

Millenium Vette 11-29-2014 6:03pm

I admire you and your wife for the great job you have done in raising your daughter, but I really like how you are not afraid to show how proud you are of her. :seasix:

Most of my friends parents and my own parents seemed to love putting their kids down. I wish I could say it didn't affect me, but I would be shitting myself.

Acceleration is just fine for it's class. Handling is other-worldly. It is certainly not Corvette acceleration, but it's a fuck load more fun to drive than my 2006 Corvette. :yesnod:

My kid has stood on her own two feet as a byproduct of our raising her. She had both mom and dad 24/7 for the first 10 years of her life, as I worked out of the house, and mom was full time mom.

"IF" my daughter had the shopping bug, or a sense of self entitlement, this transaction would have NEVER occurred. As a child who has never had a grade worse than an A-, is working on her 3rd Degree black belt, feeds the homeless, and is a car nut through and through, she is the 1 in a hundred who deserves something like this. Liz's kid is the only other one I've ever met who would qualify for this criteria. My daughter hates to shop and asks for, nor spends a dime. She's just like her mother.

Ya'll have watched G grow, and watched her build cars, and she's going into the car building industry. This is just another rung in the ladder to her ultimate success. We certainly live vicariously through our children, but if she were a fuck-up, she'd be on her own in a BIG way. :yesnod:

Aight well I guess I'll keep it on my list and head over to drive one.

You can always super/turbo charge it for about 4-5K. With 300HP, I'd drive one of these every day. It would be the modern day Supra. :yesnod:
