Hallstatt Austria. BIG pictures.

Was here a few weeks ago. Without question it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Awesome pictures.

Truly amazing beauty,I'll bet some of those houses are 400 or 505 years old. My mother is German and the house her family owns in Marburg is 800 years old.

Nice pics for sure, but those huge files take forever to load and view. You should have downsized them for the forum. That is all.:yesnod:

Gorgeous!

Last year I was in Grassau Germany, stayed at the Allstadt Sporthotel, which IIRC, is fairly near the Austrian border as well as Switzerland.

Next time I get over there, I'm taking PTO and running over to Austria for the sheer beauty of the place. :yesnod:
(and to visit Steyr, where my favorite pistol is made!)

Hopefully in Sept or so...

Cool pics !
What was your communication set-up ?
I'll be traveling around Italy in 3 weeks with my wife and girls.
I remember that you had a combo of phone cards, or something like that ???

Thanks for the pics and video. Years ago I worked for a guy who used to vacation in Europe for about six weeks a year. I've never been there, but he always said that France was a filthy country, while Germany and Austria looked like the entire country was a national park.

Just an iPhone and a 275 mb international data plan from AT&T for $99. That was enough to check my email several times a day, make phone calls through Skype (you will need an account with them too, just put in $10 and that will be enough for several hours worth of calls) and make the occasional posting on facebook. I don't text so I didn't buy the 50 text messages for $10 they offer. Make sure you leave the phone on airplane mode and only take it off when you want to use the device. Otherwise you get charged $2 per minute for each incoming call if you answer it or not.

I stayed in seven different hotels while I was there, only four had free WIFI, the rest charged by the hour. Most of the McDonald's have free WIFI too.

Great PICS :seasix::shots:
I have been up to Althofen. I have business in Vienna and Althofen get there once every few years. The whole area is great. Vienna is my favorite European city.
