What would you have done?

A friend of mine recently purchased a Toyota Tundra (I think that's the one) and the engine had problems from the day he picked it up. It has been in the shop about 6 times and the dealer has replaced almost every part in the motor and it still ran like crap. It has been in the service dept for 28 days total I believe but anyway, he got it back yesterday and they said it was good to go and that they replaced the lifters and some other stuff this time. He loaded some stuff in it and set off for a 30 minute drive somewhere and about 15 minutes in it started ticking really loud and all the dash lights came on so he pulled in to a gas station to let it cool down. He started getting upset and tried to start it and it started up but was ticking a lot and blowing smoke out the tail pipes so he said F it and started driving it. He said after a couple miles it really started knocking so he just floored it and it would only go 45mph and then it would only go 35mph and then 25mph and then BOOM! He blew the motor on it.

I don't blame him one bit, this truck has been a nightmare. I wonder how the dealer will try to jack him around on this. What would you have done?

He called me tonight and said he was waiting while they filled the tank on his new Silverado. :yesnod: Said he was going to have the Tundra lemoned, I hope it works out for him.

If he bought it new, it sounds like he has more than ample reason to file a lemon law buyback claim.

The same thing , they said it was fixed. Now they really have to fix it and I wouldn't want it back.

I hope he likes his new Chevy

Grenade it.

It's just a Toyota.

Didn't you file one as a lemon several years ago? Or am I having a bad flashback?
