Seems legit. Reporting on what the competition is up to.

The Most Popular Beers
Across the U.S.

America's relationship with beer is as diverse as its population, with preferences varying
widely across regions, states and communities. Our study explores the intriguing landscape
of beer preferences throughout the United States, revealing which brands dominate in each
state according to online search interest.
By collecting information on the most popular beers in the U.S. from YouGov's Popularity
Ratings and analyzing search data from Google Trends, we've created a comprehensive
picture of America's beer preferences that highlights both nationwide favorites and regional
distinctions.
Our analysis reveals some surprising patterns and confirms a number of long-held
assumptions about American beer preferences. From the overwhelming dominance of
Miller across the country to the regional strongholds of brands like Coors in the West and
Guinness in select eastern states, the data paints a fascinating picture of America's beer
landscape.
Introduction

Map

2

Miller's Nationwide Dominance: Miller emerged as the undisputed leader,
ranking as the most searched beer brand in 30 states -- representing 60% of the
country.
Western Fondness for Coors: Coors secured the second position, leading in 8
states. Notably, this includes Western states renowned for warm weather and
outdoor activities.
Guinness' Surprising Popularity: Despite being an Irish stout in a country
typically associated with lighter lagers, Guinness topped searches in three states,
two of which are in the South.
Budweiser Brands' Limited Geographic Appeal: Despite their massive
advertising presence, Budweiser and Bud Light only led searches in four states
combined. The 2023 controversy surrounding Bud Light may have had something
to do with this.
Regional Variation: The Northeast shows the most diverse preferences while
Miller takes the lead in several Western states.

It’s pretty ****ed up to see Michigan prefers some rat piss like Coors over Stroh’s beer. Man this world is going to hell in a hand basket.

BTW - BL is also king in the Suckeye State, I guess no big surprise there huh?

Bill 04-28-2025 11:58am

For a brief period of time in the early 80's, Strohs was imported to CA. It was excellent. So was Heilman's Old Style. Great stuff. By 1989 or so, all gone.
Then Henry Weinharts disappeared.

For a summer beer, I drink PBR. Have for years. At least since I saw Blue Velvet back in 1986.

Wisconsin would definitely be Spotted Cow, that jank survey was probably just multiple choice of fixed choices.

I wish I had the chop skills to make a picture of Mulvaney with Yaddy’s face.

Wow Miller really dominates a lot of the country. Everyone I know here in PA prefers Miller lite over coors light.

Finding Stroh's IS NOT EASY, I checked my area with no success.

IMO, and based on sampling, coors light is the greatest departure from beer taste I have encountered.
Kinda like a discount beer mixed with 90% water, left out in the sun for a week.
