All you eastern Texas folks stay safe
I have a friend that lives in Rockport.
I'm sure he is busy right now

boracayjohnny 08-24-2017 7:15pm

You have plans to attack in the opposite direction?

StaticCling 08-24-2017 7:31pm

I'm glad they named the hurricane Harvey because that sounds like a white persons name. From now on, all hurricanes should be named after white people or white people sounding names.

C5SilverBullet 08-24-2017 7:37pm

30" of rain is not going to be good.

Galveston Cty Emergency says we're about to get more rain than in recorded history, and they're not sure where they're going to put the flood water.

That does not really make me feel good, consider the lake I live on is where the flood water gets pumped. They did close the gates Wednesday to let the water go down, but still....

One of my CSRs is named Harvey. He handles our largest customer who happens to be based in Dallas. I sent the sales director responsible for the account an email today titled "Harvey is coming to Texas and he is gonna kick some ass"

FWIW...Harvey is a black man

A guy probably made that estimate. I'm guessing 6" max:leaving:

Aerovette 08-24-2017 8:51pm

The last hurricane we had got water just inside the garage. The amount of rain they are predicting this time has me concerned. I'm guess I'm going to get water inside the house this time. It really depends on how spread out across three days, the rain will be.

No, I don't have flood insurance. :(

Damn. Hopefully they're over-estimating. Doesn't sound good though.

Holy crap ! I just needed GAS ! Went to four stations. two had no gas, one with a line out to the street. I found a tucked away station no one knew about I guess, and filled up.

It's a 385 mile - 6 hour drive to East Texas from Rockport.

IIRC Rockport is the highest point on the Corpus Christi Bay, but  for your friend.

Stangkiller 08-24-2017 11:39pm

Were on the southwest side of houston, the rain estimates range from 5-25"+ the real question is what happens after it makes landfall. Does it stay way west of us and dump on San Antonio, or perhaps does it head back to the coast, strengthen amd make a third landfall somewhere near Mullets new place. To me the spaghetti models are showing more and more that the storm stays west of us enough to keep the really damaging rain away until its ready to make a quick jaunt past houston on Tuesday. Fingers crossed, the kroger in front of my house ran out of gas while i was getting dinner tonight.

Were well prepped here though and works already cancelled monday, so im just hanging tight and painting the baby room if i can make it out tomorrow for the supplies.

OddBall 08-25-2017 12:40am

Y'all stay safe and dry.
I have family that spend their winters in Weslico. I hope they have a home left there after its over.

Black94lt1 08-25-2017 1:15am

Stay safe all! I'm headed to Ft Worth on Saturday, too far inland to be affected but the closest I've ever been to a storm like this
