I think I have a temperature problem again,,,
In traffic, my temp goes up to above 230. You guys think that cleaning the fins would make a huge difference?
It blew a hose the other day when it seriously overtemped. It has a new Thermostat, new Antifreeze new hoses and the Dewitt Double radiator. Distant memories of a spirited drive in Bowling Green come to mind trying to keep it cool. It seems to do okay when moving... |
No fan? Operating?

Can't hurt. These things suck all kinds of crap up in there. Use air and pressured water.

Since it only does it when the is a low amount of air moving through the radiator, I would think blockage, or lack of fan function.
Check between the radiator and AC condenser, to see if there is a bunch of junk in there. Remove the air bridge, take off the top of the fan shroud, and shoot air between there, then run water all in there to remove anything that might be blocking the fins. If that doesnt do the trick, then Turn the AC on max and see if both Fans kick on. Both fans should automatically kick on whenever the AC is turned on. If both fans arent running, then there is a a good place to start. Could be a bad relay. Also check the relay connections for anything loose or broken. |
Thanks everyone. Just didn't want to miss anything obvious :seasix:

I spent all afternoon cleaning out the radiator/condenser area on mine yesterday. Got a shit ton of grass and crap blown outa there. Its been a couple years since I cleaned it and its amazing how much crap these things suck up between the radiator and condenser.

I have heard that these work well, I just have never ordered one.

Installed this wireless gadget in 15 minutes and it drops the temps from 226 to 195 at a standstill on the freeway without energizing the AC. On sale now @ $99.00, I paid $119.00. Well worth it.

The cooling fan does not come on until around 232 to 235% F. Make sure the fan is running when it is hot (above 232) if so clean out the fins. If problem still exists replace that radiator.

I had to take every thing apart and clean radiator with foam cleaner an that did the trick for me.
