My nephew's funeral
It was yesterday in the Gettysburg area. Full military honors and a 100 car motorcade to the cemetery. A local ex-military biker group escorted along with troopers and sheriffs. The bikers had huge American flags on their bikes along with one having a Marine Corp flag which was presented to my SIL at the casket. The ride to the cemetery gave me the goose bumps a few times.
Rough day but he got sent off right. RIP Max. https://cache.legacy.net/legacy/imag...h=600&option=1 |
Rest in Peace brother....:halfmast: I have escorted more brothers to their final resting place more times than I care to think about. It's always a very sombering experience. :(

So sorry :sadangel:

I always looked at everyone in the military as my brother and sister. Now that I've retired I see them as my sons and daughters. God speed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your nephew's funeral was a truly heartfelt and honorable tribute. The way the community came together, with the military honors, the bikers, and the touching flag presentation, must have been incredibly moving. It's moments like these that remind us of the strength of unity and the importance of honoring our loved ones in special ways. If you need any support or just want to talk, we're here for you. Sending you lots of love and strength during this difficult time. And there are some epitaph examples: "Gone but never forgotten," "In loving memory," "Forever in our hearts." Take care.

Sounds like your nephew received a truly honorable and touching send-off. It's heartwarming to hear about the support from the local community, especially the ex-military biker group and law enforcement.
These moments, despite being tough, can also be incredibly meaningful. On a somewhat related note, I've been dealing with a recent loss in my family as well. While browsing, I came across an eco-friendly burial option called water-based cremation, which seems like a thoughtful choice for those who care about the environment.
