I do not know what it is. A friend was asking. I figured the way you guys seem to know what anything is, you would know this.

Can you fit a book behind the brass hook? Maybe it's page holder for a recipe book. Could be attached to a kitchen cabinet door and would give you hands free access to a recipe while preparing a meal. Best wild ass guess I can come up with. :D
