Replacement truck battery suggestions?

need to head to town later and get a new truck battery for my Chevy. original is 6.5 years old. group 48, 615 CCA is the original specs.

aside from AC Delco, any suggestions on ones to look at or to avoid? likely head to Pep Boys or O-Really, as both are in town.

my dad liked Interstate last time he needed one for his old GMC, and i've heard good things about them.

thank you to the collective. :grouphug:

I have the Optima red top in my truck and used the same in my Corvettes.

Just buy a new truck. It will come with a new battery. :leaving:

Personally, I would not use Interstate as I have not had good luck with them. YMMV.

I do the gold Autozone ones. Free replacement for 3 or 5 years. I just keep taking them back right at the end of that warranty.

Kspaz style.

You're pretty much getting exide batteries with different labels and warranties or you're getting interstate. Pick the CCAs, price and warranty you want and go with it.

Ihave bought several batteries in the last few months. WhaI learned is that you don't use cheap trickle chargers on them. I now use noco and some other similar brand.

I stopped using Interstate batteries since none of them lasted over 3 years.

per the google dude in my computer:

"Johnson Controls to Market Champion® Batteries. Johnson Controls, the world's leading supplier of automotive batteries, has entered into an agreement with Federal-Mogul Corporation. The agreement is focused on the marketing of Federal-Mogul's Champion® battery brand."

and AGM=

"AGM or Absorbent Glass Mat is an advanced lead-acid battery that provides superior power to support the higher electrical demands of today's vehicles and start-stop applications. AGM batteries are extremely resistant to vibration, are totally sealed, nonspillable and maintenance-free."

The Motorcraft battery in my truck lasted for 7 years, and actually didn't let me down when I decided to replace it. I figured it was gonna crap out sooner or later, and didn't want to get stranded. No complaints.:seasix:
