April Photo Contest Subject - Best Shot Ever

A couple months ago during the discussion about lack of participation in the monthly photo contest I mentioned that while one objective is to get people to go out and shoot, maybe we could generate more interest buy having a "Best Shot Ever" contest. We did this a couple years ago and got a lot of entries and participation increased for a while at least. So...

For April, go through your archives and post up what you consider to be your best shot ever or better still, go out and take your best shot ever.

Rules:

- Cannot be a previous monthly contest entry
- Feel free to edit with your choice of software but no photoshopping in elements that weren't there. Ex: No giant full moon when there was none, no replacing the sky with a shot from another photo, etc.
- Post just one photo in this thread - I will start a "Almost my best shot" thread in the Picture Perfect section and encourage everyone to post their 'runner up' shots there.

When we did this before I think we had ~20 entries, so everyone participate. Next month we can go back to winner's choice.

[Edit] Feel free to add a description, backstory, location, along with your photo.

when the wind picks up, then it gets really cold from the wind chill. like -75F to -105F wind chill. then it's time for goggles and extra warm mittens.

i normally wear glasses, but just couldn't most of the time down there outside. they just fogged up and then you couldn't see anything. :faint:

I took this with a Kodak point and shoot ( my first digital camera ). This is actually the second shot.

The island is Wolf Island on Charleston Lake in Ontario Canada. A major storm had just gone thru after soaking the entire East Coast from NC thru Ontario. I took this one while trolling for lake trout.

Not sure I can compete in this months as I really don't use any software programs. Great shots so far and don't want to look lame lol.
I'll dig and see what I have but far from what I am seeing.

mine was taken with a crummy little point and shoot, later scanned to digital.

it's not the best picture, but it's the picture with the best story behind it for me.

left the States in October 1993, was in Antarctica until Jan 94, came home to gather more supplies for Winter-Over, returned 2 weeks later, last plane departed in late Feb 94, did my work everyday (56 hour weeks, only Sunday off), and the next plane we saw only flew over head in June to drop supplies. finally came back home in Oct 94. so you have to put up with a lot to get that picture in the middle of winter. you don't just fly down for the weekend and then come home.

anyway, that's a brief backstory.

IMO, the shots you put in in the February contest, especially the first one, stand with any posted so far. I like the seashell shot from August even better and your family sunset shot from July is just outstanding. You could sell it.

Post 'em up! :seasix:

Darn....I lost all my old shots I converted to digital when my old hard drive went for a crap. :(
And my scanner's out of commission as well....I've had some beauty shots over the years.

The only software I use is Photobucket for cropping.

Post up one that looks good in your eyes. :yesnod:
