Hey guys and gals, you may not be aware of this, but....
We have a section here devoted entirely to politics !!!
(And religion. And controversy.) Check it Out: https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/p...n-controversy/ You may have never noticed it or chosen to venture into it. Or you may have done so in the past, and been kindly greeted with personal attacks or unpleasantries of all sorts like thread de-rails. I recommend you give it a first try or a second chance. Right now we're having ongoing conversations about: Mexican Drug Cartels making death threats against U.S. LEOs The 2010 popular vote tallies in house congressional elections, and what they mean for the 2012 Presidential Election A heated debate concerning middle class prosperity and well-being A debate about the merits, or lack thereof, of gun control and the Brady campaign The European Commission's plan to BAN cars from cities by 2050 Come join the fun, and let YOUR voice be heard. Debate and discussion informs us all, and it's a good stress reliever. There are only very simple, minimalist rules, which can be condensed into the following nutshell: -Stay on Topic -Respond coherently -Disagree respectfully Come on in !!!   |
I've been in there a bit more over the last couple days. Nice that the inmates aren't running the asylum anymore.

I took a look awhile ago and, unless ithe level of civility has greatly improved, I'll pass.

I'd be happy to participate but it's not worth the effort --
I have yet to see an internet political debate on ANY topic that didn't degenerate into name calling, complete ignoring of relevant arguments and defense of a position by telling the opponent that if they didn't like it they should lump it until the next election cycle. Give me someone in there who doesn't immediately run to equate the conservative position as a lockstep agreement with Glen Beck or the Fox News tribe or see the liberal position as mindless puppets of Reid, Pelosi and Obama, and MAYBE there could be some discussion. But I doubt it. Debate is history and the stuff of Lincoln and Douglas and Webster. Now its redirecting, spinning and deflecting instead of intelligent discourse. |

Show the way by example then. The more intelligent discourse there is in PRC, the better. |

I obviously incorrectly assumed that people who had the sophistication and intellect to drive a Corvette also had the ability to carry on the a the same type of discussion. |
