Don't ship USPS
Another USPS bashing thread right..? Nope.. Well kinda.
Talked to local postmaster as I've had 3 packages disappear into the system over last few weeks. She told me sitting in a trailer somewhere waiting to be scanned, probably be another 2 to 4 weeks(already been 20 days on one) and hopefully it'll be scanned in. Said she gets hundreds of calls a day now, passports months overdue and have been sent nowhere to be found. Anywhere there is a large distribution hub is stacked with trailers she said, lack of personnel it seems. Figured I'd pass the warning on in case you had a notion to use USPS for anything. I know my electric bill was 10 days late this month and never did get insurance bill either and my local place is top notch at home. Weird as my Amazon packages have been on time 98% of the time but anything from ebay is taking weeks... |
Like most other things related to service in this country, it has dipped to lower standards, people just don't give a shit or have any pride in what they do, not all, but I see the downward trend.

local USPS mailman at my parents house is a lazy POS. Also, as the house my parents built a bunch of years ago was in a private development, it was double addressed for a long time until the USPS updated their systems. So about 4 months ago, without telling anyone in the development, they started rejecting and returning to sender any mail with that didn't have the updated USPS street address on it. Residents discovered it completely by accident when mail slowed to a trickle.
Fedex is no better, just this past week i had a package shipped to me from a vendor in California that they misrouted and then siad it was out for delivery for 4 days in a row and never delivered. They even assigned a "lost package" agent to try to find it, but kept telling the shipper it would be delivered "today". It's day 16 that the package has been bouncing around the fedex system, and it still hasn't been delivered. UPS has been rock solid. |
it must be location related. In our area... the Post Office does a better job that UPS or Fed-Ex ground.
Priority packages are always dealt with first. When shipping USPS, place the item in one of these boxes: https://www.shippingschool.com/wp-co...-packaging.jpg |

The place I work is less than 2 miles from the local UPS center. We consistently receive our Next Day Air between 2 and 3PM. The FedEx hub is a few miles further at the airport but we get P1 packages by 10AM or so and ground by noon most days. It's a crap shoot so we tell our customers to wait until we call before they come and pick things up. |
Once Covid hit, the Amazon/E-bay packages have quadrupled +, for the carriers.
1) The vehicles are not made for this increase. 2) The personnel are told to get it done before 5, (impossible in many cases). 3) They won't hire and split routes as needed. 4) They do hire to replace the quitters, but they often quit within 3 months due to the slavedom, therefore there is no cohesiveness. 5) It's so friggin hot in the warehouse and in the trucks that the carriers are spent before they even start to deliver. This was my experience for the 5 months that I worked there. I quit almost two months ago because it is a sweatshop. $19/hr and benes, and I said fk you. It's too bad because with some tweaks, it could work. I was a distribution manager for 19 years of my other career and the USPS was/is the most disfunctionally managed place that I have ever seen. It'll be interesting to see what happens in September when the money runs out. |
UPS > FEDEX > USPS > Driving the package yourself

I got some junk mail a couple days ago that was pre-opened. The entire length along the top of the envelope was ripped open. I've never seen that. I even know the letter carrier too. I would be very surprised if he did and I'd put money on he wouldn't.

I had some specialty equipment from Lithuania held up in customs for two months. Totally unacceptable. Plus, they refuse to take calls to check on it. When it finally came it looked like a truck ran over it. Equipment was fine.

Well things haven't improved as I'm waiting for packages still sent last month.
Article in local rag said routes aren't being filled (one assumes vacations) and people are getting mail every 10 days some locations. Zero OT is being allowed at at 8 hrs you go home period. Nice... |

A package mailed June 30th from commiefornia arrived last Wednesday. Nice.
Another package mailed from Florida bounced back and forth between destination and Jacksonville 3 times... Wtf. Ahhh just leavd that shit on the plane we'll get next trip. Talked to my local postmaster(wonderful lady and I never have issues locally) about a fedex smartpost package that is damaged /who knows where and seller won't respond... Fedex delivers there own smartpost here now at least instead of handing off to USPS. Not sure if related to the cluster going on nationally at usps, I've seen alot more fedex trucks in our area the last year than ever have. |
And the libbies want to mail everyone a ballot...Freakin' laughable. Plus, libs can't seem to tell the difference between a mail in ballot, and an absentee ballot. But no one ever accused them of being smart.:yesnod:

It's getting late in the game to spin up ballots for everyone and get them back and counted I think. Shit should have been decided and started by now. Some areas it'll work perfectly and other areas it'll be a shit show of delays/mishandling and other issues such as signatures. |

I had to request an absentee ballot. You rocket scientists have no fk'n idea how it works. They don't just mail everyone a ballot, duh. |

The libbys aren't going to mail everyone a ballot. They will or may, mail everyone a request for a mail in ballot, which needs to be filled out and sent back. THEY'RE NOT MAILING OUT BALLOTS... DUH If that's wrong, post up the link that disproves it. |

Link talks of the difference between Absentee and mail in voting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Right_to_Vote_by_Mail_Act My Google is my friend. Of course you would want others to do the work for you. |
