Phenomenal record. Still a YUGE fan to this day. Not only that, some of the best distorted guitar sounds ever put to record.

I bought a t-shirt with that album cover on it at their concert.

That album inspired me to take up the guitar.

That first album isn’t pedals. It’s his gold top into cranked Plexis with some EQ added. His Rockman series of pedals came after in an attempt to duplicate his sound.

He also had a HELL of a time getting those tones in a live setting.

Great album but Dawnie lifts the needed whenever "More Than a Feeling" starts playing. :yesnod:

Boston (1976) - The benchmark.
Don't Look Back (1978) - the follow up. Strong, but not up to the level of the original. But what would be?
Third Stage (1986) - Had it's moments. "Amanda" reminded me of something from the 1st album.
Walk On (1994) - Singer Delp boogies. It's a Boston album but weak.
Corporate America (2002) - Scholz goes all in with his hatred of capitalism.
Life, Love & Hope (2013) - I own it, but there's not a lot to really dig into here.

I love reading the liner notes on the first couple of albums!

I seem young here sometimes is because it's therapy for me. Very few things i take serious here. When you're in 6th grade i was drafted during Vietnam. One thing you didn't do. I saw Jimi Hendrix in concert another thing you didn't do and i could go on and on. :yesnod: :cert:

I saw them twice in San Diego in 76 or 77. I still have the original vinyl LP and CD. A true classic.

I saw Boston at a day on the green concert at the Oakland Coliseum. Must have been around 78-80 time frame.

I saw Robert Fleischman open for Judas Priest and UFO too. I can't say I liked Fleischman at all, don't remember anything about him. But UFO and Judas Priest kicked ass. :yesnod:

And Hagar wasn't with Van Halen yet. He had left Ronnie Montrose to go on his own. He played Bad Motor Scooter, but I felt like he stole it from Montrose.

The band Boston, or what's left of it, was in Rogers Arkansas at the AMP (an outdoor amphitheater) a couple years ago and some friends got us tickets and asked that we join them. I wasn't expecting much but went. It was great! The band sounded just like it did back in the day, the lead singer was spot-on, and it was a lot of fun. 10/10 would see again.

It's nice when things exceed our expectations. :seasix:

I saw the Third Stage tour at Reunion Arena in Dallas. Still have the t-shirt in a drawer somewhere. Doesn't fit anymore, LOL!

Thomas, Bill. I finally noticed where this sign actually is. Hell, it's on Rangeline - our main drag, but in this particular area it's crappy due to (partially) the 2011 tornado. Just a block or two away there's a Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, and a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Thank goodness these fine women are here to class the place up. These are the true Friday Five for this week. :dixie:

The Third Stage was not up to the first two albums. It was "OK" but no where near the quality of the debut album or Don't Look Back. That 8 year break and all the guys grew apart musically.
