Currently have 14 external monitors connected to my notebook computer

We had a direct lightning strike last evening and it damaged 2 of my external USB2HDMI cards. Fortunately I had 2 more, and I've ordered 3 more and 6 more cables. Need to get this back on my main tower, but had too many problems today and opted to use the notebook for the day.

14 external monitors on a notebook. :hurray:

I hate to break it to you... but you need

at least 15 externals to be considered a power user.

If you count the big one on the bottom (the notebook itself), I have 15.

great, you have 14 virtual windows sessions running at the same time. I imagine you're rebooting every 90 seconds.

Nothing quite like seeing the blue screen of death sprawled over multiple monitors.

What video card is installed in that laptop? I've never heard of one that has that much processing power.

Lots of techno-dick wagging up in this bitch. :toetap:

While the video card in the notebook is about as robust as you can find, the trick to this quantity of monitors is to get an external USB 3.0 hub and a whole bunch of J5 Create USB3 to HDMI adapters. Each adapter hosts two monitors.

This is a wonderful development.
Not the lightning strike.:shots:

While my desktop (with 3 4-port video cards) is interesting to have so many monitors, I found it pretty cool that I could pull it off on a laptop. :yesnod:

Your cable management skills are top notch.

So at what point do you max out the bandwidth of the USB bus? :lurk:

No wonder you were able to do this. You had Aerovette come over and wire it all up. Hope he wore a mask while he was there.:leaving:

Don't give me shit about the cables. This was a panic response to the lightning strike last night. As far as maxing out the USB bus, I'll get back to you. I should be able to attempt to have all 18 external monitors connected to the notebook this weekend.

Jeeeezus. Might want to call an exterminator. Judging from that rat's nest, you've got a major infestation...

Why? What does one do with 18 monitors connected to one laptop?
