Dental Hell

A couple months ago started having discomfort in a bottom left molar when eating. If food caught it the right way, discomfort. Went to a local dentist. Diagnosed with a small cavity in that tooth, as well as a small cavity in the very back one on that side as well that wasn't bothering me.

Eat carefully for a month, have my appointment for fillings 2 weeks ago, get them filled.

Couple days later, problems. Pain. Went back to dentist last week. Filling in very back tooth (the one that wasn't bothering me in the first place) had completely failed/come out. It gets redone.

Couple days later, PROBLEMS. My jaw/check were sore as all hell, probably from 2 weeks in a row of getting stabbed with needles, and once that finally subsided I could tell I had tooth issues again, but could feel fillings still there.

Went back today. SAME back filling is allegedly the issue. X-Ray showed a void. Saw a different dentist at the same office, recommended against 3rd filling because of location & other issues, and a crown instead. So I ended up unexpectedly spending a few hours (and a few hundred out of pocket) in the chair this afternoon getting prepped for a crown and getting a temporary crown placed. Goes without saying that I got stabbed in the same cheek with needles for the 3rd week in a row.

UGH. I pray to God this finally solves the problem and after the soreness in my mouth/jaw from getting stabbed repeatedly subsides, I have no more pain because of my back tooth. Which wasn't ever bothering me in the 1st place.

First time ever with cavities. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON I PROMISE TO FLOSS TWICE DAILY FROM NOW ON AND ALSO I BOUGHT AN ELECTRIC BRUSH.

Keeping on top of your dental hygiene, flossing etc, all that's good...but some of it is not avoidable as you age.

I finally found a great dentist here in MD. They can make crowns as you wait. I hate those temp crowns.

Well, I didn't take any Ibuprofen or Tylenol last night, I slept well, and I haven't taken anything this AM either and for the first time in weeks I feel like a functioning human being again. Sore cheek/stiff jaw from getting stuck again, but no tooth or jaw pain. Pray it stays that way. Maybe I'm finally out of the woods. Wish I had seen this dentist from the get go.

Temp crown isn't that bad. Feels weird but weird is a huge improvement upon pain. Appointment for the gold crown is June 13th.

I remember one of the last times I was with Island14 and he was complaining about a tooth ache he had been having for months. I told him to go and get it pulled before it went abscess on him but he told me that gargling rhum numbed it enough that it would not hurt any more.

I still miss that guy ....

One of the major contributors to heart disease is oral health.

I bought an Oral-B spin brush, and some soft sensitive gum brush heads.

Feels good man. Much better than scrubbing them back and forth with a manual. Which apparently you are not supposed to do. Info. I could have used a couple of decades ago. Lady who cleaned my teeth said they were certainly VERY clean along the gum line, but that I was not being kind to my gums.

The pain returned. BIGLY.

Went to an endodontist in August, GA on Friday and got a root canal.

SO FAR SO GOOD.

I had three a couple of years ago. Other than an occasional twinge of pain in one tooth, I'm good.

So I just had that damn tooth pulled.

Good grief what an expensive, painful summer.

Sorry to hear that. And I agree, you need a new dentist!

I have a simple policy when I visit the dentist. Wake me when it's over.:yesnod:
