Yea, but it is a Sat. on a holiday weekend! Peeps are either enjoying sleeping in or getting a jump on weekend projects like DAB.^

Morning Doug! Have fun doing the wiring, remember power off! :D

Kind of exciting with live wires!!

Yep. Main breaker off.

3 circuits done, 1 just needs outlets installed, and need to finish running conduit and pull wires for 2 more.

I'll probably go back up the stable and ride again late tomorrow afternoon :).
And Monday I'll head up to Pocono visit with people and hopefully catch a ride with an instructor friend...it will do for a substitute to a kink in my original plans :)

Heya Sista Dawn!!

He's doing ok...not too happy with all this attention err riding he's getting
Been doing about 20 mins of groundwork to get him moving, then I'm on his back for about an hour...just walking maybe in 2 weeks I'll try trotting with him. Don't want to push him too hard off the start :)

I'm thinking that muscles I've forgotten I have are going to be screaming at me tomorrow. Darrin and I picked up almost 70 of those blocks used to make retaining walls and 25 of the smaller decorative bricks yesterday. We mowed after we got home so they didn't get unloaded off the truck until today. Then I pulled up the 30 or so bricks that were the border around the tree I'm working on. I will regret this tomorrow.

I'm trying to do right by him :) He loved the carrots and the "Winnie's cookies" I gave him from you :). I just don't want to push him too hard too soon. I know this will be a drawn out process, I'm guessing 2 months before I really see different in his top line.

If you keep going the way you are, you'll notice more than just his top line improving. :) I wish I had some good before and after pics of Lady. Before being when she was still at Frank's being the 'forgotten mare'. (She wasn't as exciting as the studs so she kind of got overlooked). And after I had her for a few months. After the exercise and TLC she looked like a different horse. It was definitely a labor of love.

I've been walking him bare back...don't know which saddle will be more comfortable for him the western or my english one when I move him up to trot. Which do you recommend?

I would think the western with a nice thick saddle bad. You might even get one of those special pads that go under the regular saddle pad made for horses that need to be 'built up', if that doesn't make it too thick. I think the English saddle might put more pressure along the top line. Of course you could just continue riding bare back!:rofl:

Don't think I want to try trotting bare back....I see me spending time on the ground (there's not enough safety equipment to try that!)
I think the english is easier to trot with...but I'll manage with the western for his comfort :)

 Where's your sense of adventure? I never used a saddle when I was a kid. I rode bareback until I bought my Palomino QH and started boarding at a regular stable. When I started working him for the show ring I had to use a saddle. But I see your point.

Yes, the first consideration must be his comfort. :D Just think of the upper body workout you get every time you hoist the western saddle up on his back!

Its kind of neat how much more responsive he is when I just hop on his back...today he was great! Moving off the slightest leg pressure and subtlest movements of the reigns/lead line ( I ride him in his rope halter and his lead line are my reigns). In the saddle...he's a constant fight :(

He hasn't had a bit in his mouth for probably 3-4 yrs.

So far its been great!! Horses, BBQ and the mountain background...yeah life is good :D Tomorrow...race cars and the smell of racing fuel and burning brakes, could only be better if I was going to be driving on the track myself, I'm pretty sure Steve, Wes, Quentin or Rick will take me out for a session tho :D

How's your weekend going so far?

Kerrmudgeon 05-29-2011 10:19am

Not as much fun as yours! I'm fixing our fridge, and it's raining on and off. And it's not a long weekend up here, we had ours last week. Have fun, I'm back to the grind.......:D

Beef. It does the body good.

I had leftover BBQ ribs. Just like stew and meatloaf, I think BBQ is better after the flavors have a day or two to blend.

Hey Laurie!

It isn't any different than any other weekend to me. Been retired for quite a while, so they are all the same to me.

That said, Today I have worked my azz off cleaning the cars, replumbing the one-year-old kitchen sink/reversosomsisthingy and taking care of the Great Danes.

Time for a shower and plan dinner.

Got the wiring in the shop all done, save for one circuit in the finishing room. Ran out of conduit. Will wrap up tomorrow. Then time to clean up and build some work benches. :hurray:

Medium to large. 2x framing, 3/4" ply tops with Formica. About 6 to start. Not fancy, functional.
