Target model Ruger SR1911 in 9mm! It was a deal I couldn't pass up. Full size 5" version and cousin to my SR1911cmd .45 Commander 4.25". The odd inlaw is a RIA Tactical G.I. 5" also in 9mm.

Anything on a 1911 chassis is worth having!--:hurray:

9mm 1911s are really soft shooters.

Do the 9mm's have to be fired sideways?

:dance::dance::dance:

But seriously, what's the magazine capacity for the 9's? Single or double stack?

9mm 1911s are normally single stack, my factory Colt magazines are 9 rounds, but i also found 10 round magazines, so you can do 10+1. Remington (I think) makes a double stack 45 1911, not sure if they also make a double stack 9mm 1911. :type:

It’s funny how much acceptance the 9mm has gained. A few short years ago, if you’d bought a 9mm 1911, you would have had to turn in your man card.

I still shoot my 45s regularly but at age 60 I find the 9 a lot easier to shoot long strings with without waking up with seized shoulders and sore wrists. By long strings I mean 250 or more rounds per range session. I tend to train with what I use defensively unless I am at a match so heavy +P 45 or 115 +P 9 is the norm. A 200gr Berry's RN ahead of 4.3 Bullseye cycles every 45 I own and a 115gr Berry's RN ahead of 3.9 Bullseye I can shoot until my arms get sore from holding my stance.

It has a lot to due with current military standard sidearms and popular culture.

Back in the day , greatest generation time, they made fun of .38 spl but loved the .357 mag while sleeping with their 1911.

I almost got the 10mm version yesterday.

BADRACR1 09-04-2019 4:45pm

The only .45's I have are the 1911's. Had a little Glock 36 (?). Hated it. Nasty recoil. Also had a Para Warthog and P12 double stack and hated them. So fat I couldn't hardly release the slide lock.

I have these 3, or had until that tragic boating accident. The Sig is not as bright blue as the flash makes it appear. The last is a Fusion in .45
