Ice tray build up?

You people are pretty smart so help me out here. My refrigerator ice box is a deep, rectangular box. It builds up at the back end. I am thinking of building a steep ramp to make it all slide forward so it will not back up under the outlet and keep the end where I get the ice from somewhat emptied. Anyone do something like that successfully?

I'm sorry, I meant to exclude certain people. So sorry for wasting your valuable time. Oh well, it wasn't that valuable after all.

Do you get your ice and water in the door, or is this just an ice maker that you have to manually empty?

If you've got a screw type system to deliver ice out the front of the freezer door, then I don't think McGuyvering something will work for you, and still have functionality from the door.

I have to manually empty it. It just drops our of the ice maker into the ice container. It tends to build up right below the maker.

Clean the bottom of the ice container. You probably have ice build up that is creating traction for the ice so it can't spread out evenly, and more ice on top just exacerbates the problem.

So, it'll be something like this, but with ice cubes instead of dogs, then?

I understood your question and have a similar issue with the ice from the ice maker building up towards the back of the bucket. I agree that something simple as a shim or a couple door stops in the back might help with the matter :yesnod:

Yeah, thats the theory

Drinking more will use more ice and eliminate build up.

You're wecome.

:bill_daniels:

This is the problem. Just use full strength vinegar on it. You can also do the same with your ice cube tray if your ice maker starts having the old "my ice collection thing is frozen like a bowling ball" thing. This happens because a metered amount of water is squirted in each cycle. But if several ice cubes are sticking, then it's too much water and it goes where gravity takes it, and freezes. Cleaning the tray without roughing it up by scrubbing is the key, and vinegar removes the coating of buildup your water has left behind.

Fun fact: The guy who made this phrase famous was the reporter that reported on "the best little whorehouse in Texas," AKA the shack outside LaGrange and ended up getting it shut down.

Dogs would leave hair in the ice.
