I actually prefer the luggage rack on a C3.......it is a nice balance of form vs. function, and I think it looks great on the right cars........my '73 in silver looked killa with the rack on it......what say you?........truth is though she was just a sexy bitch anyway.......

Well you asked! As I said before I had nice used 73, white with a rack. Got it at a good price! Just could not stand that growth on the back and sold it fast. I suppose its a necessary evil if you actually have that much stuff to transport. I just did not like the Beverly Hillbilly look.

If I had more to move than the inside of the Vette could do I used My PU truck.

Racks for me harken back to a time, when these cars may have been daily drivers......., and the racks are very utilitarian.
luv em on VWs..........

They were the best cars to "hop" in the winter! :yesnod:

Nope.

They look ok on the Corvettes and some other cars. If the car came with one I'd leave it. I can't stand them on VW's or all that other stuff they attach to vintage bugs to junk them up.

Had it on my first '76.
Don't have it on my 2nd (current) '76.

Would not bother to add it to the current car, but would not have turned it down
if the current one had it before I bought it.

This. I wouldn't seek to add one to a car that didn't have it as a factory option, but I also wouldn't take one off it that's the way it came.

I have one on my '70 because I bought it with it on there. I prefer the look without it, but not so much that I would go through the process to remove it.

That will be a No for me.

Nothing like a nice rack on a C3.

I removed it on my '71 LT-1 convertible. I used the plastic caps to fill the holes.

Hate the damn things and think they are useless on the convertible (theory being they are there for the T-tops. And they destroy the cool factor of the C3 back window and side fins. IMO

I had one on my '74 Fiat Spider before I restored it. Mike is a master at bodywork and could have easily welded the factory holes up, but I decided to keep it. I plan on putting a third brake light in it, one of those super annoying ones that strobe-flashes when I apply the brake, causing epileptic spasms to the driver behind. :Jeff '79:

They don't look horrible, but I'm not really a fan. Of course to each his own.

zeek 02-14-2024 6:36pm

Not a fan at all. Not to mention that after awhile they start to rust and then REALLY look like crap.

it depends on the alcohol consumption

Reasonable

KenHorse 02-14-2024 8:21pm

Then again you need the rack on a C3 'cause there's not enough room to carry much more than a midget in the back
