How to drive a roundabout

Around Charlotte, they are building more and more roundabouts and no one seems to understand how to navigate them.... until now. :)

~5-6 yrs ago in Italy and took back roads from Lake Garda to Lake Como.

Must have been a round about every 1-2 km.

Hundreds of them LOL

While wanting too see the countryside never anticipated the impact and time for all those round abouts...

I got older in the Wash DC burbs.....Bethesda/Chevy Chase Md......and on Conn. Ave. NW DC at the line, was a turnabout that became such a mess over the decades, I heard they took it out......:confused5: but I been gone for some 23 years now....

:hurray:

They're building a big one right by my house. Just within a mile of my house there are four roundabouts and a diverging diamond. The shit I see going through these...

We have several of these in our neighborhood. People don't get it that when a car is in the roundabout, they have the right of way. These are the same idiots that don't know what "yield" means.

Roundabouts are much easier and quicker to navigate than stop signs. I'd like to see more of them.

The put several in around downtown here... Unfortunately it was a truck route and ended badly dozens of times as they were small.
My only issue with roundabouts (besides they all suck) is the fukers that do 60 and slide lanes like it's a race track corner.

Well you do have to hit the apex for the fastest way through them. Or go over the top as in the gif …

They are very trendy around here, but many people are too dumb to use them. :sadangel:

I think they are much more efficient than stop signs...as long as people understand how to use them. Always have to watch for those that come to a full stop before entering even though there are no other vehicles in the roundabout. Our island has about six of them.

The one near me is called the circle of death. 2 lanes in all 4 directions. Nobody knows what lane to be in approaching it or exiting it. Of course, anyone under 80 should be able to figure it out but most stop at the yield signs and sit until all traffic has exited then proceed at about 10 mph.. Didn't speed anyone up.

Just a wild guess but it may have straightened out after you left:dance:

Did he/she stick the landing?

ratflinger 10-23-2020 4:34pm

Go to London and try them - everyone else is driving the wrong way!

There's one not far away that is the main entrance into a big casino. It's just off I-44 on the Missouri/Oklahoma state line near Joplin (Downstream Casino) and they have so many signs set up to stage you up in the correct lane, with wide lanes, arrows, everything you could hope for and STILL people **** it up all the time.

They are a great deal more fun since I put the Pilot Sports on the crowd plow.
