what did you think after now seeing the real C8 ME car?

I think GM should be congratulated at making a two seat entry-level looking mid engine sports car - that starts in the $70k price range. They pulled off one helluva feat..

But.... the previous 3-4 generations of Corvettes did not look like entry-level two seat FE sports cars; they were higher tiered in appearance of the overall FE sports car segment.

I must see a C8 in person; I remember the C7 reveal pics did not seem represent the way the car looked in person.

New designs often brings new problems. I bet there will be some but I agree, it is a great accomplishment.

Need to see one in person.

I'm certainly going to consider one. Need to see how well I fit first.

The reveal show sucked ass. The car looks smaller, but reminds me so much of a Lotus Spyder. Just doesn't seem very original in design. I like it better than the C5/C6/C7 though and would buy one if I was looking for a sports car.

The exterior styling doesn't do the specs justice IMO. We all have visions of what a car is when someone says "mid-engined"... and right off the bat the C8 doors open conventionally.

Performance wise the C8 may just dent sales of Porsche and some Ferarris & Lambos; but they have the appearance of an exotic.

I hope that when seeing a C8 in person... it will give a more appealing vibe cosmetically.

One thing I do dislike is the touchscreen. It looks like they designed the interior and then said "oh crap, where we going to put this thing?. Similar to Tesla just slapping it onto the dash.

overall, the design is tooooooooo BUZZY/busy??.......and HOO in hell makes a square steering wheel??

Somewhat nice looking, but ehh, I have my reservations. I do not like that bubble look of the roof line. Since I'm probably not going to get one, moot point for me.

I think it will be good. The performance aspects are exciting me.

There is a convertible.

Neither are either of my C6Z's. My current strategy is to pick one up, either 1st or 2nd year as a Z51, and trade up for the higher trims 3-4 years after that and plan on keeping that one for good as well. I just need something fun to drive, and race, that has a warranty, and that I don't plan on keeping for good.

Was not a fan of the C6 at introduction but that changed a year or two later and I've been driving one since. Wasn't a fan of the C7 look at introduction. Like them better now, but fine with the C6. No planning to buy another Vette but if I were, the only thing about the C8 that would hold me back is the lack of a manual transmission.

Still not a fan of the C7 unless in a widebody form which will be the same for the C8.

The offset and tire size on the C7 & C8 is just looks anemic from a stance perspective. Some 20x12's with a modest lowering will help that car a lot.

I don't know if there's going to be any room to lower this car. The first thing I noticed was the lack of the massive gap they have always had over the tires.

Agree 100%. There's just something about the stance. The same goes back to the C6 as well in my opinion. I know this is a result of making it actually drivable, which is something that the "supercars" don't seem to worry about at all.

I don't know what exactly I was hoping for, but at first look it almost comes off as...meh. The Diet Coke of supercars. Just 1 calorie... not supercar enough.

Maybe I will change my mind after seeing in person.

I've been working towards getting a gallardo, have always loved those cars and decided I would try and get one now that they are starting to pop up for under 100k. But the C8 performs better is 10-12 years newer and will probably cost much less to maintain....... I no longer want a lambo I'll take a C8

2020 We will probably see the cars arrive around February.
It will only give package and trims, no pricing until mid August.

The C8 will have expanded driving modes, with six presets compared to the current car's four: Weather, Tour, Sport, Track, plus an individually-configurable MyMode and the new Z Mode. That final mode is named for the Z51, Z06 and ZR1 performance models known to Corvette aficionados, and offers further individualized configuring of chassis, engine and transmission parameters, accessible through a new "Z" button on the steering wheel. Performance Traction Management, the advanced multi-mode traction and stability control system with five levels of increasingly-lax intervention for track driving, is once again available.

The only thing I really do not like is the squared steering wheel. It may look better to me in person. In either case, it would not stop me from buying one.

I am still surprised that GM is making the car a mid-engine, never thought I would see that.

Once again, no place for a front license plate to look decent.

I never put mine on my C6 and never got a ticket, but I don't like driving a car where every cop who sees me has a reason to pull me over. One Highway Patrol officer confronted my in a gas station and rudely gave me a bunch of crap about it. I pleaded ignorance and told him there were several police officers in our Corvette club who didn't have them on their cars (which was true) so I assumed they weren't required. I carried it in my trunk and I figured if it came down to it I could install it on the scene of the traffic stop since it was a peel and stick bracket. Never had to, though.

Pulled over in a C5, only a warning but five or six squads showed up for the occasion. Damn' lawbreaker me. :D

Too much electrickery and boy ricer here for me. I want to drive, not have to take a night course in computer programming to get the most out of my ride. Thinking that "Joe average" has the experience to program things like throttle response and shock damping will lead to nothing but more lurid slides at car show exit gates. We can all do that without the added complexity of computer control already.

:iagree:I wish on modern cars there was an option to leave a lot of that crap off and lower the price. I especially hate having to punch through a menu to adjust the bass and treble on the stereo. How is taking your eyes off the road to do that better than the old knob was.

I'm torn as to paddle shifters vs stick, have driven both, and I currently drive a manual stick, the real world race car drivers use paddle shifters, so maybe it is time... KEY word, MAYBE.

I will say this in public, Toyota wasted their time with the new Supra. The mid-engine Corvette is the ONLY thing on the planet at the moment that gives me emotion. I will pull the trigger on this car. :yesnod:

'Yota fukked up with the Supra. Who wants some parts queen from 'Yota and BMW? And, for me, it's under powered. For all the hype it was a big let down. I'll deem it the coulda/woulda/shoulda Supra.

The new Vette is where it's at in looks and performance. Zip code? Sheit, Supra's not even in the same country.

Well more than it's worth but I have 2 guys locally that have offered 19k for it.

Just had it painted 2 years ago when they installed new race seats, seat belts etc.

Just can't see parting with it for the little it's worth. I'm the original owner and it is in mint condition with ~600 rwhp that has not been beaten on.

Garage space, or lack of, is a big issue.
Neither of our trucks will fit so the driveway is loaded with ~19' long trucks.
The GTO barely fits in the one bay and the motorcycle in the other.

I'd hate to leave either of the cars outside year round and I can't stand paying for storage.

I understand lack of garage space. I plan to add a tray ceiling in the front bay of my garage and install a 4 post. Hopefully in the next year or so, but the master bath re-do comes first.

I bag on GM often. Yet, the C8 hit it out of the park with the new look. The more I see the new body style, the more I see that I like. The 495 ponies and mid-engine is not so bad either. Nice job, GM folks.

What's interesting is with the introduction of the large air scoop behind the door for engine cooling, for the first time ever the cove on the side of the Corvette is reversed. Form follows function. And they made it look perfectly normal and something that looks like it belonged there all the time.

I remember the DVD that came with my '05. They interviewed one of the designers and he said he was told "It better be a Corvette". Even with a total configuration change, they still managed to do that with the C8.

Not digging that shade of orange. And I like orange. My '74 was orange.

The 2020 Stingray is much better looking, in photos anyway, than the C7. Can't wait to see one up close and personal.

Probably safer than using pyrotechnics or shooting dyed explosive targets at the range. I've seen some pretty raw videos in that vein.

And the C7 looks great too. that is what makes the C8 even more impressive.

C6 and C7 did nothing for me. The C5 when it came out I was like "Wow, I have to have one of those".

I remember the first time I saw one in Germany in 1998. I followed it because I had no idea what it was. I will do the same with the C8 for sure.

It's cool to see what everyone designs on the configuration app.
