You need to read this...

It's by Garrett M. Graff who wrote "The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11". Below is a link to excerpts from the book. This excerpt is based on contemporaneous transcripts of 911 calls and cockpit voice recorders from September 11, as well as both archival primary source interviews with key participants—conducted as early as 2002—and supplemental original interviews by the author, as recent as this spring, including the first-ever interview with the Navy officer who ultimately asked Cheney for authority to shoot down hijacked airliners.

The book all too well brings back the memories of that tragic day. Pictured is Dick Cheney, Vice-President at the time but who is in charge since President George W. Bush was in the air on a plane.:

In bad guy territory the USAF flies CAPs, Combat Air Patrols. After 9/11, I remember being on base in Utah. It's common to look west, while on base, to see the commercial airlines headed for the Salt Lake airport. There were no aircraft in the air, except the CAPs. CAPs in the states. I stopped and thought about that, CAPs inside the US.

And now not only have the barbarians entered the gates, they are in Congress.

Some people forgot something.

I like many others were there that day and I still have trouble looking at these pictures and videos.....I get a lump in my throat and it is hard not to cry !
I try to figure out why certain people are in certain positions in our government ( is that PC enough ?)
I again like many others will never forget and anyone that does should be ashamed to call themselves Americans ! :USA: :halfmast:

I had just flown to Minneapolis the day before, out of Boston's Logan airport (!!!!). Everyone in the hotel lobby was glued to the TV, as they could not believe what had just happened. I didn't know what had happened until I watched the other jet hit the 2nd tower. Went to the client site as per normal. The client set up TVs everywhere, but no one was using them. No one got any work done, as the network was choked by basically everyone trying to watch online, or get updates.

Will never forget that day.

In the book, "America's Reluctant Prince: The Life of John F. Kennedy Jr."
by Steven M. Gillon. The author was told by an agent that the Secret Service told Mrs. Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, a Defcon 2 situation, that she and her children would be put into the underground bunker of the White House if the situation got worst.

She replied, NO. She claimed when the situation arose to that level, she planed to take herself and both children to the White House lawn and face the same fate as millions of other Americans.

Admired the guts of that woman.:seasix:

I'd like to reflect a minute where we are now as a country. Since 9/11 we have been involved in conflicts on numerous fronts, with no end in sight. We invaded Iraq on a false premise, and that place is worse off now than it was, and we will probably all be dead and gone before troops leave there. Afghanistan....a shithole, and will remain a shithole. We have done nothing there but squander lives and money, and when it is all said and done, nothing will have changed. Libya..I still don't know why we did that. Syria...none of our business. They can kill each other until there is no one left as far as I'm concerned. Other parts of Africa...full of terrorists, and will be that way until the end of time.

Ok, our country. Instead of putting a ban on muslims forever, our .gov ships them here by the thousands so we can have "diversity". Boy, that sure is working out in Europe...right? Political correctness. Heaven forbid that we don't like muslims, the crime problems, the invasion at our southern border, or the politicians who are past corrupt 100 miles back down the road. Oh, the national debt. Heck, how would endless wars and "freebies" to illegals, and scores of people that just don't like working, have any bearing on that? Surely no one will ever call us on the debt and want payment...right?

Folks, we are in serious trouble. The good ol' U S of A is teetering on the brink. Like all of you here, I just want a secure job, a roof over my head, and food for my family. I've said it before, and will again, that the U.S. is a lit powderkeg, just how long is the fuse? Truthfully, I wish I was more optimistic, but we are leaving our kids and grandkids holding a bag of poop. The wealth of this country has been stolen by the politicians and their cronies, and they will be least likely to suffer, as they will bail at the first hint of trouble. The rest of us will be here trying to figure out what's next. Just my .02 for what little it's worth.

Two major changes have brought about this problem.

We stopped fighting wars to WIN.

We started being too concerned with whose feelings we hurt.

Every "conflict" ( I hate that stupid word) after 9/11 could have ended swiftly and with finality if we would unleash 12 kinds of hell's rain on the country of conflict. Fly over, level anything and everything, and get out. If the REALLY are the enemy, then treat them as such.

On 9/12, we should have taken action to profile, deport, monitor, vet, every muslim in the country until we were certain the disease had been excised. I'm not sure when or why we somehow became sympathetic to a people hell bent on killing us.

Yes, both efforts would be unfair to the truly innocent, but as I have said before, I can't tell which fire ants are going to bite me and which ones will not, therefore, the entire mound must go.

Imagine having to give the order to shoot down a civilian airliner?

Or being the two pilots, taking off with no weapons, knowing you were going to have to ram the plane?
