Holy shit balls - sucralose

I’ve been fighting terrible abdominal pain for two years. I have trouble drinking water (get water logged and feel like shit) so I started drinking cranberry juice light - about 50 calories per serving about two years ago.

Last week I drank some diet apple juice - 10 calorie stuff and holy cow I had pain. I have been struggling with an obstructed bowel so I figured that was it.

A different day I drank another 10 cal juice. Same thing. I realized they both have sucralose. The super diet stuff has more.

Doing research I found that it is Splenda and many healthy people have upset guts and stomach consuming it. But here is the kicker. Studies show that people specifically with Crohns are royally ****ed if they consume it. It permeates the walls of the bowel and causes inflammation.

I have not drank that shit in a week and I’m already having a lot less pain. I have an MRI later this week. I may skip it. The contrast makes me sick for several days.

Honestly I knew it was bad stuff but I didn’t know Crohns makes it 100x worse.

Progress! :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Anything labeled “diet” is poison.

Eat real foods.

Not the first person I've known to have issues with splenda.... The wife is one, about ruins her.

I like using monk fruit as a sweetener. No stomach issues. Low glycemic index.

Do you squeeze the juice onto your monkfish? :popcorns:

I won’t consume sugar substitutes of any kind for this very reason...the resulting GI issues are just not worth it :nonod: 20% of my large intestine is gone, so I have to be very careful with my diet. :yesnod:

Have you tried Cat's Claw. I have (or had) microscopic colitis and it helped me a great deal with bowel issues.

We use Trivia and it is pretty decent, doesn't even leave an after taste and tastes better than sugar.

The milk industry wanted to make a low carb milk a few years ago.
They wanted to add sucralose and they didn’t want to include it in the ingredients label.

They weren’t allowed and it didn’t happen.

SnikPlosskin 12-09-2020 11:09pm

I’m certain now that I’m getting better. I still have to get an MRI Friday where I have to slam a gallon of contrast which will give me the volcano shits for at least two days.

My hope is that the dam breaks in the MRI machine just to teach those bastards a lesson.

I use Stevia on the rare occasions when I use artificial sweetners. Saccharine, sucralose, etc. are pure poison.

Oh...and so is pink curing salt. Just saying.

Steve_R 12-10-2020 1:35pm

I use sugar. :island14:
